Can I crack the JEE Advanced without completing the coaching material perfectly?

An anxious student!

I understand and, more importantly, feel the anxiety behind your question. Basically, what you are asking is, “After doing the work that I have, am I good enough to crack the JEE Advanced?” I’d like to add that lakhs of candidates across the country have the same question and so did my son who took the JEE Advanced many years ago. Here, I would like to add, it is the job of the parent, teacher or mentor to absorb this pressure.

So, let me answer by offering you my perspective. Lakhs of students don’t qualify even after solving Level 2, i.e., the JEE Advanced level, of the coaching material. In contrast, many of the candidates do qualify even after solving Level 1 or the JEE Main level.

Therefore, the question that needs to be asked is, ‘What is it that the latter did to qualify?’ The answer is out there right before you. It really depends on how much of the concepts you have imbibed/absorbed/digested. If even after doing Level 2, you don’t have the depth of understanding required to crack the JEE Advanced then it’s obvious that you won’t qualify. For more on this, please see

  2. How can I develop my thinking to solve Math and Physics questions in JEE?
  3. How many hours a day should I study to crack the JEE?

I also understand the origins of your question. Many coaching classes, if not all, claim that if you do all of their material, you will definitely crack JEE Advanced. Not true! If that were the case, the scores in the JEE Advanced would be much higher but they are not! So, the crux of the issue is not whether you have solved the coaching material but whether you have digested the concepts in the material.
